Personality: For most of her existence, Dark Precure has been defined by her opposition towards and desire to defeat her “sister”, Cure Moonlight. She lacked both a Heart Flower and a proper childhood, and as the Desert Apostles had no use for her otherwise, directed her wholly towards the purpose of defeating not just Cure Moonlight, but all of the Precure the Heart Tree summoned as its defenders. Her entire life was geared around seeing a specific person as her opposite, destroying her, her allies, and everything else that the Desert Apostles wished to remove in service of their goals.

As such, she has a very ill defined sense of self, as she has never considered (or even had the opportunity to do so) what it means to be anything other than “the opposite of Cure Moonlight”. More than that, she is jealous of everything that Cure Moonlight has, including the love of friends, their father, and everything else in her life. This is not something that Dark Precure realizes, but ultimately, is something that fuels her hatred of her sister. So while she simultaneously believes herself superior to Cure Moonlight, she also paradoxically desires a complete life like she has of her own.

Due to the circumstances of her creation, Dark Precure is something of a blank slate outside of her enmity for Moonlight and the other Precure. She has no frame of reference for social interactions, as she was never able to interact with or form a bond with anyone other than her father. If she were ever removed from that life, or put into an existence where she didn’t remember her background, she would feel confused and distressed by things that everyone else would consider everyday niceties and matters of expectations of behavior. She would default to being aggressive, and have little patience for things she considers trivial. Furthermore, she’d lack a distinction between good and evil, and focus on what is immediately beneficial, with an inability to understand why others are less ready to do something unsavory for their benefit, or what she perceives to be the greater good.

For the most part, Dark Precure tends to exude an air of dutiful servility or smug superiority, and has been shown to delight in cruelty, especially towards Cure Moonlight or the Precure. For most of her screen time, she acts very smug and in control of most situations, with her steely facade never breaking. However, after being handed several defeats, this mask of composure broke down, revealing the angry, fragile girl she is beneath, which is prone to emotional outbursts and a complete inability to process her own weakness. In such cases, she is prone to screaming loudly, relentlessly pursuing her rivals, and becoming desperate to prove that she is not weaker than someone who defeated her. From that, we can extrapolate that she would easily form grudges, and when out of her element, her hot-bloodedness and irritability would shine through more readily.

That being said, Dark Precure is not without the capacity for love. She is both respectful and affectionate towards her father, and if her life had been different, she could have been a more realized and peaceful person. Ultimately, it was love for him that drove her to do everything she did - even as a being “without a heart”, showing that perhaps the difference between light and darkness isn’t as stark after all. Without Doctor Sabaaku, Dark Precure would feel an emptiness inside of her, and seek to find something else to fill that void.

Abilities: The first thing you’d notice about Dark Precure might be that there’s a large, bat-like wing extending from her back. While this appears to be part of her costume, it is actually a part of her body (as shown when she was temporarily put in other clothes). It is irremovable, and while she can remove her Precure outfit if she so chooses (again, she was in another outfit, so I’ve extrapolated that she can disappear her “uniform” in order to dress reasonably), the wing will nonetheless remain. She has the ability to fly, and though the wing seems to not actually cause the lift needed to rise into the air, it is the source of the ability.

Dark Precure’s other standout ability is her eyes. When activated, they can increase her overall level of strength, allowing her to project waves of force, hit harder, and move more quickly. That being said, those traits are already superhuman, as she’s in her “magical girl” state by default, so she’s quite a formidable opponent even without drawing on the power of her eyes. Her baseline is being able to cause damage to buildings and the ground, lift particularly large objects, and pummel other characters who are considerably strong themselves. She was also brought to life with innate skill at hand to hand combat, with all of it being derived from Cure Moonlight, making her her “sister’s” equal in a fight.

As far as more fantastic powers, Dark Precure can create energy shields, fire dark energy blasts from her palms, and she wields a weapon known as the Dark Tact. The Dark Tact is as much a part of her as anything else, and she summons it by releasing it from the brooch she wears in her hair (the same can be assumed for her costume, given the extrapolation above). While it resembles a conductor’s baton, Dark Precure wields it more like a miniature battle staff. An energy blade can also be extended from the end of it, allowing her to wield it as if it were a sword.

Dark Precure’s two special attacks are released from her Dark Tact. The first is Dark Forte Wave, an energy blast shaped like a flower that she fires from the end of the weapon. The other is Dark Power Fortissimo, wherein she surrounds herself with an aura of red energy and flies at her target, becoming a living ball of destruction in the process.

God/Shinki: Shinki

Why?: Dark Precure lacks enough drive and will of her own for anything besides defeating Cure Moonlight, so she’d be very ill equipped to being a god. Furthermore, losing her memories would give her an impetus to improve herself behind her very limited and narrow view of the world, and free her from how driven she is to defeat her opposite number. She’d have to learn new things by necessity in order to fit into her new role, giving her both a reason and a motivation to step out of her comfort zone.

Cause Of Death: In canon, she was purified by an attack from Cure Moonlight, causing her body to give away, since she was a being made completely out of darkness.

Vessel: A katana, in the same style as her Dark Tact. The hilt of the sword has a cross guard shaped and colored like a green and red flower.

Name Location: Her right eyelid.

Power: The ability to fire waves of crimson-colored energy by swinging the blade. The energy waves act in the same manner as her Dark Forte Wave or Dark Power Fortissimo, in that it is a purely destructive attack, with no frills or secondary effect other than causing damage. In operation, these beams would function in the same way as a vacuum blade, dealing cutting damage. It cannot cut through other shinki vessels, but more mundane weapons and items may affected depending upon their durability.
